One local Facebook group created for the safety and security of midtown residents is awash with images, comments, and posts about the city’s new homeless shelters. Councillor Jaye Robinson is a member of the group and has been addressing complaints directly.

Advocates sound alarm as opioid-related overdose deaths spike in Toronto

Elizabeth sits on the steering committee of the Toronto Harm Reduction Alliance, which for the last eight years has been meeting monthly to talk about how to support, raise awareness, and advocate for people who use drugs. Recently the group has also taken part in a number of actions to raise awareness about the opioid crisis. The next event is set for Monday, Aug. 31, which is International Overdose Awareness Day.
